PETAIN MYSTERY
BROADCAST CONFUSION Recd. 6 p.m. London, Nov. 21. The confusion about Marshal Petain has to-day taken a new turn. Vichy radio announced that at 9.50 a.m. it was going to broadcast a commentary on thj changing of the guard in Petain’s rrosence. At 9.50 gramophone records were played, and at 10 o’clock the Vichy announcer apologised for a technical hitch which he said was being dealt with, and more records were put. on. Six minutes later the announcer said the commentary would begin at any moment. There was a minute’s silence, followed by another record, and then the announcer said: “We are unable to relay the changing of the guard ceremony from Vichy. REPORTED RESIGNATION Reed. 6 p.m. London, Nov. 21. The German news agency announced that the Vichy Minister of Labour, Huizert Lagardelle, has resigned.
