WOMEN’S BASEBALL
AMAZONS BEAT HINEMOA Fast and even play was seen on Saturday when matches under the control of the Wanganui Women’s Baseball Association were continued. Amazons beat Hinemoa in a closely contested game. At the end of the fourth innings Hinemoa were leading by two runs to one but in the last three innings Amazons made seven runs to Hinemoa’s four, thus winning a most spectacular game. Dodgers defeated Star by 14 runs to 4 with Dodgers particularly prominent in fielding. In the second section Hinemoa defeated Dodgers A by 17 to 7. the play being much improved in this section since the competition started. With the completion of the first round the following are the positions of the teams: First Section: Amazons 2, Hinemoa 2, Dodgers 2. Star 0.
Second Section.—Kia Toa 2, Hinemoa 2, Dodgers A 1, Dodgers B 1. Secondary Schools.
In the secondary school competition Convent A’ beat Convent B. The match between Technical College A and B will be played during the wwek.
