Sergeant K. R. Horsley, R.N.Z.A.F. has been gazetted as an air bomber.

Second-Lieut.. B. L. Williams, 2nd. N.Z.E.F., has been appointed to the rank of lieutenant. Pilot-Officer Bernard Cullinane D.F.M., has been promoted to the rank of Flying Office, states the New Zealand Gazette. •

Mr. J. J. Adams, who is leaving Wanganui to live in Christchurch, was farewelled by the Wanganui Bowling Club during the afternoon tea adjournment on Saturday. The president, Mr. W. J. Stone, said Mr. Adams had been a member of the club for 24 years and his cheery personality would be missed by all Wanganui bowlers. In appreciation of the help she had given on many occasions a spray was presented to Miss Adams. The death occurred in Masterton last week of a very old resident of the Wairarapa, in Mr. Robert Z. Renall, at the age of 86 years. Born at the Hutt, he went to Masterton with his parents, at the age of two years. Later in life he took up land at Kokatau, Carterton, where he resided for a number of years before going to Masterton to live in retirement about 23 years ago. He was a keen cricketer and represented Wairarapa in ' many representative matches. Of later years he became a bowler and was an active member of the Masterton Bowling Club till his death. His wife predeceased him eight years ago and he is survived by 10 children, 24 grandchildren, and 36 great-grand-children.
