WAIKATO PROSPECTS

(Special.) Auckland, Nov. 19. The Waikato Racing Club is in for one of its bumper meetings to-mor-row, with a full programme of races, one of which will have to be divided on the day, this being the opening event. A division may be dodged in the Tamahere Stakes, for three scratchings only are required. Taken all round the fields are not quite so large as for the previous spring fixture. The course should be hard and fast.

There seems to be a doubt about Lord Chancellor in the Waikato Cup, for of late weeks he has only been doing light work. He would have been the favourite had everything been, in order. Tweedsmuir, the Avondale victor, Lou Rosa, Gay Lally, Full Hand, Foxlore, Te Hinemoa and the coupled lightweights, Merry May and Water Vixen, may come in for most support, with Tweedsmuir and Lou Rosa favoured.

A big sprint field should see the three-year-olds more than holding their own, with Royal Glory and Balfron bothering the older brigade. But for all that it is an open event and luck in running will play a big part. Horses fancied for their engagements to-morrow are the following:— 11.45: Bruntwood Hack.—First Division: Beau Dink, Royal Battle. Second Division: St. Leon, Sir Bian. 12.35: Waimai Hurdles.—Moderate, Etaro, Wildore. 1.20: Tamanere Stakes. Inkspot, Lord. Theio, Plassida. 2.10: Waikato Cup: Tweedsmuir, Lou Rosa, Full Hand (or Gay Lally). 2.55: Claudelands Handicap.—Kraal, Cornish. Atatu. 3.45: First Hack Cup.—Gay Winkle, . nA Jovia l Lass, Sir Ringman. 4.30 .-Cambridge Handican.—Balfron, Royal Glory, Flying Acre. 5.20: Second Hack Cup.—Mr. Ross, Sir Dingle, Gold Stand.
