HEAVY N.S.W. STORM
HEAVY DAMAGE DONE Recd. 6 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 19. The heaviest storm tor 4u years has been raging on the north coast of New South Wales. In some places 12 to 14 inches of rain fell in two hours. The north-south railway line was washed out and a train derailed, and hundreds of passengers in subsequent trains were held up for 14 hours.
Stock in some areas were drowned, while acres of potatoes almost ready for digging were washed away. Tomato crops were ruined and young maize flattened. Townships in the Orara Valiey were cut off from outside communication for a day and <- half, and men had to wade neck deep to rescue old people and children from flooded homes in the valley.
