Phelps, congratulating him on a poem he composed entitled “Freedom,” says the Evening Standard. Phelps wrot • the poem while on the way to Br A i from New Zealand to train as a fighter pilot with the Fleet Air Arm. He was inspired by hearing for the first time the “Warsaw Concerto” in a 8.8. C. broadcast which was received on the ship’s radio. Phelps went, straight to his cabin and wrote the poem.
