TRUCK DRIVER FINED
SLIGHT COLLISION WITH CYCLIST “You are not entitled to overtake another vehicle within 30 feet of an intersection,” said Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Wanganui, yesterday, when Hampson Vernon Lawry was charged with driving a motor-truck in Victoria Avenue without due care and attention. The magistrate imposed a fine of £2, costs 10s. Sergeant. F. J. Bonnington told the Court that, defendant was driving in the same direction as a cyclist when a slight, collision occurred. Defendant did not know he had struck the cycle and continued on. Defendant, who pleaded guilty, said he did not feel a bump and thought he had passed the cyclists in safety. “This is not a serious case,” the magistrate commented.
