HONGKONG RAID
SHIPS IN PORT BOMBED Recd. 6 p.m. Chungking. Aug. 27. American medium bombers, escorted by War haws, destroyed approx imately 25,000 tons of enemy shipping at Know-loon docks at Hong Kong on Wednesday, says General Stilwell’s communique. Direct hits were scored on a 500-foot ship, which burst into flames. A similar sized ship, lying in dry dock, also was directly hit and a small transport set on lire. All the planes return safely.
