PLEA FOR PEACE
PUBLISHED IN FINLAND Recd. 6 p.m. London, Aug. 27. Twenty leading members of tne Finnish Parliament, representing four parties, and also several newspaper editors r..r»d two university representatives were among 33 signatories of a peace petition recently presented to Prime Minister Ryti. Revealing this, Lahti radio, broadcasting in English, added that the full text o f the petition was printed in all Finnish newspapers to-day. The petition says: “Particular concern is felt as the result of the deterioration of our relations with the United States. Improvement of these relations must be the first objective of our foreign policy, but other measures are necessary. We must be separated from entanglement in the struggle between the Great Powers and seek bv negotiation to achieve peace, free-dom, and independence.”
