CANTON AND HONGKONG
SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS BY AMERICANS Reed. 8 p.m. Chungking, Aug. 28. Successful air attacks last Thursday on Canton and Hongkong arc reported in General Stilwell’s (ommunique. Direct hits were scored on runways, hangars and revetments at Canton aerodrome, while heavy damage was done to shipping installations in the Kowloon area, Hongkong, where the power plant, cranes, tracks, machine-shops and ships were nit. During attempted enemy interception live Zeros were destroyed and eight probably destroyed over Canton, and live were destroyed and four probably destroyed over Hongkong. All our planes returned safely.
