ADVICE TO APPELLANTS (P.A.) Auckland, Aug. 27. The need for appellants proceeding on health grounds to procure certificates from doctors who knew their medical histories was emphasised uy the chairman of the Auckland Manpower (Industrial) Committee, Mr. J. O. Liddell, yesterday. Mr. Liddell said that many people, 'or t.m purnoses of their appeals, secured certificates from doctors whom they hart not consulted previously. The case before the committee was one in which C. T. Plummer, a labourer, appealed on health grounds against being sent to the Reid Rubber Mills. Limited. He said his health would not stand up to the dust, at the mills. The appellant produced a certificate regarding his medical history, but. said he had not previously consulted the doctor who supplied it. “Documents of this nature -are of no use to the committee," said the chairman. “This appears to be the doctor’s account of statements you made to him, and actually prove nothing. When people wish to secure certificates for this committee I would strongly recommend them to go to doctors they have consulted previously.” In reply to the chairman, regarding the type of work he would like to do, ■' appellant said he had considered ~/ning the Waterside Workers' Union. “You can cut that out altogether,’’ replied Mr. Liddell.
