Mr. J. R. Wainhouse, who died in the Wanganui Public Hospital was a former •member ot the New Zealand Police Force, and was stationed in Gonville for some years. He retired about 15 years ago. In his younger days he was a keen athlete, being a runner and an Auckland representative Rugby football player. He was also interested in bowling.
The Rev. V. Venimore, vicar of St. Peter's Gonville, a padre attached to the R.N.Z.A.F., is visiting Wanganui and will occupy the pulpit at St. Peter’s to-morrow night. During the service new candidates will be admitted into the Church oE England’s Men's Society. At the conclusion of evensong a presentation will be made to Rev. Venimore at a social gathering in the Parish Hall.
