RUBBER ENOUGH
ALL ALLIED NEEDS U.S. SYNETHETIC OUTPUT. New York. Mr. William Jeffers. U.S. Rubber Director, and Mr. Jesse Jones, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, have disclosed that production of synthetic rubber in the forty plants* being constructed in the United States assures the United Nations of base rubber sufficient for both military needs and essential civilian requirements. “It is safe to say that we will produce 250,000 to 275,000 long tons of synthetic rubber in 1943,” said Mr. Jeffers. “Next year with all plants in operation, we estimate production at 850,000 long tons—"reath in excess of any provisions im-'" -*- o' - en de rubber. “But I must warn that we are not yet out of the woods, nor is it oossible for us to relinquish restrictions.” The Combined Production and Resources Board reveals in its third report that the United States and the British Empire have so far managed to meet demands from rubber resources without dipping into mini-1 mum reserves.
