BRILLIANT CRICKET

BOVS’ HIGH SCHOOL RECORD AT CHRISTCHURCH (P.A.) Christchurch, March 18 In reply to the first innings totai of 265 by Christ's College, Christchurch Boys' High School to-day carried their first day's score of 124 foi two wickets to 466 with only six wickets down. The feature of the game was the brilliant batting of the Boys’ High School captain, G. J. Leggatt, who carried his previous day's score of 73 not out to 214, establishing a record of individual scoring in games between Christ's College and Boys' High School. The previous record. 204, was made by R. C. Blunt, of Christ's College, in 1917. Blunt latei represented Canterbury, Otago and New Zealand, and proved himself one of the greatest batsmen the Dominion has produced. Leggatt’s performance was remarkable for the steadiness shown from start to finish, and in his long, sustained effort he gave only two chances, one of stumping before he had reached his century and the second chance, to J. H E. Fulton, which ended his brilliant knock.
