MILK SITUATION

COMMISSION OF INQUIRY APPOINTED kP.A.) Parliament Bldgs., March 11. To-night the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. J. G. Barclay, announced the appointment of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the supply and distribution of milk to the four main cities and, if necessary, to other centres, and to the New Zealand and Allied forces as well as to shipping.

Tne Commission is to consist of Messrs. W. R. Tuck, solicitor, ot Auckland, A. H. Ward, of Wellington, and C. W. Dell, of Christchurch. The Minister said it would be the duty of the Commission to consider the three main factors of prices, quantity and quality, and to have regard to the best interests of consumers and distributors, and also producers.

The members of the Commission said the Minister, were highly qualified for their task, and he was sure they would bring down a report that would be of lasting value to consumers and farming industry. It was anticipated that the Commission would commence work shortly and would be engaged in the inquiry for about three months. .
