SOLDIER’S GESTURE

A Castlecliff soldier on leave this week had the satisfaction of raising Wanganui’s National Savings quota flag, and his gesture will no doubt be appreciated by citizens. Accompanied by his mother, he called at the Wanganui Chief Post Office and inquired the amount needed to reach the quota. When informed that it was approximately £l9O, he handed over a box in which his savings had been kept. On this being counted it was found that there was £207 available. “I’ll put the lot in. It may he a bit of encouragement to my cobbers overseas,” he remarked.
