AXIS CAMPAIGN IN TURKEY (Recd. 11 p.m.) London, Feb. 17. The Ankara correspondent of the Daily Mall says: “Sounding the same note as Signor Gayda, Brell, chief of the official German news agency at Ankara, and the propagandist Matsel, through the German Embassy, launched a strenuous campaign throughout Turkey with the object of persuading Britain and America chat a Soviet victory over Germany would mean danger for them. German newspapers arriving in Ankara have completely dropped their usual abuse of Britain and America.” The correspondent adds: “Hitler is clearly ready to go to any lengths in an attempt to avert a British-Ameri-can invasion while his Russian defences are hard pressed.”
