FOUR FREEDOMS
ESSENTIAL FOR FUTURE SECURITY MR. NASH AT WASHINGTON (Recd. 10 p.m.) Washington, Feb. 15. Mr. Walter Nash, in an address titled “The British Commonwealth Faces the Future,” said: “The postwar world cannot be made secure unless America is prepared to play her part fully. The trend of the British Commonwealth of Nations’ future is five-fold: (1) They stand foursquare for implementation of the Atlantic Charter four freedoms; (2) They desire to see the United Nations organisation developed in the post-war world; (3) they do not believe such an organisation incompatible with the British Commonwealth; <4> They believe security is an immediate prime Koint of such organisation; (5) They elieve that Britain and Russia should make an immediate post-war contribution by participation in collective security.” Mr. Nash said the United Nations' legislatures should enact the Atlantic Charter four freedoms as the cornerstones of foreign policies.
