FOR U.S. SERVICEMEN
OWN PETROL STOCKS FOR TAXI-CABS (P.A.) Auckland, Feb. 15. A new suggestion that additional petrol should be supplied to taxidrivers by the United States authorities from their own stocks in order that the demands of American servicemen for taxis might be satisfied, was made by Mr. J. A. C. Allum at a meeting of the Metropolitan Transport Licensing Authority. It was stated that the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. Laurenson, would be in Auckland this week and would confer with the authorities responsible for the control of taxi rrvices. The Authority accordingly decided to adjourn consideration of the various applications for taxi 1 conces for a fortnight.
