REGENT THEATRE

A new Gene Autry film at the Regent Theatre is “Back in the Saddle.” In this new musical adventure romance, Autry is seen as a courageous two-fisted ranch foreman who is leading the ranchers against Blaine, a rascally mining magnate, whose miners poison the streams of the valley by allowing copper sulphate to be dumped in them. Gene goes to a neighbouring town to get an injunction against Blaine and while he is away his young ward, Tom, leads the ranchers in a raid on the mine. In order to save Tom from being lynched, Gene agrees to withhold the injunction if Blaine will protect Tom in his jail cell and will promise to divert the sulphate from the streams. The other stars are Mary Lee and Smiley Burnette. The associate feature, “Smart Aleclw,” is a sparkling comedy-drama, starring the East Side Kids.
