BATTLE SHOCK
Dr. George Ungar, of the Fighting French forces, implies in Nature t.ia. if vitamin C is given to soldiers just before a battle it would protect them from death by shock. Guinea pigs injured to an extent that would otherwise have caused 100 per cent, mortality always survived when vitamin C was immediately injected under the r skins after the injury. A delay of only half an hour reduced the number of survivors by half. It follows that soldiers would have to do their own injecting before going into battle, though Dr. Ungar does not say so.
