THREAT TO RESIGN
TWO OF LAVAL’S MINISTERS Rugby, Sept. 28. Two members of Laval’s Cabinet, M. Barthelemy, Minister of Justice, and M. Romier, Minister without portfolio, have threatened to resign if the persecution of Jews continues, reports Reuter’s correspondent on the French frontier. Many priests and members of religious' orders are wearing the Star of David as a protest against persecutions. Gringoire and other collaboration newspapers declare there are 2,700,000 Jews in France who are swamping the Mediterranean coast and that neutrals estimate that there could not be more than 400,000 .Jews in France in 1941. The exagge' 'ted figure obviously is quoted with the object of stirring up the French anti-semitjsm movement, which so far has been unsupported. Berlin radio quotes a Vichy report that General Nogues, GovernorGeneral of Morocco, has established concentration camps for Jews.— 8.0.W.
