A. “Blue Triangle Day.” On Wednesday next, the Wanganui Y.W.C.A. will conduct its annual appeal for funds to carry on its work locally among girls and young women of the city. The activities of the Y.W.C.A. cover a very wide range, and have developed appreciably, and into ever widening channels since the association’s inception in Wanganui four years ago. “Blue Triangle Day” is held annually, and on its success depends largely the maintaining and extension of the work, so it is commended to citizens. Besides a collection in the Avenue, a shop will be held on the Majestic Corner, under the management of the women’s committee, assisted by all members of the association. Crippled Children’s Handcraft Display. To overcome the apathy and lack of cutside interest which is almost inev ti ble for those ch. ioren who are handicapped because cf some physical d-sability and th is unable to do regular work, the Gins’ Club of the Wanganui Crippled Children’s Society a lew years ago formed a craft, circle. This circle, which was organised by officials of the Girls’ Club, Miss L. Aitken, Mrs. W. S. N. Rennie, Miss M. Wallace and Mrs. G. H. Hanson assisted by helpers, has been successful in the training of crippled children in the work they are most fitted to do. Other societies and hospitals took up a similar ideal, for as well as being useful, the work in many cases is proving very beneficial in the cure of infantile paralysis patients as a means of exercising their fingers and arms. Three years ago the first competition of handcrafts of crippled children throughout New Zealand was displayed in Wanganui. This year's handcraft competition, which was judged last week, is displayed in a window at the D.I.C. and is attracting considerable attention. W.VV.S.A. Activities.
