WANGANUI HOME GUARD
TO-MORROW’S ACTIVITIES / Only those Home Guardsmen in the Wanganui Battalion who have not, completed the minimum hours of training will parade to-morrow. All units of the Gonville Battalion will parade in unit areas for training. During the week officers and n.c.o.’s had two instructive and interesting lectures, one by Lieut. H. G. Carver on the work of the intelligence section and the other by Lieut. W. Bourne on medical organisation and methods of handling men requiring attention of the medical platoon. On Monday next officers and n.c.o.’s will attend a lecture on road blocks and anti-tank defence. The lecturer will be Lieut. G. Payne. During the month the Group Director. Lieut.-Colonel R. D. ‘Hardie, D. 5.0., has visited Raetihi, where he had a conference with officers, as well as Taihape and Hunterville. At the latter places he addressed officers and n.c.o.’s of the Home Guard.
