THREE BRITONS IN FOUR FIFTY-SIX-HOUR WEEK London, Sept. 23. Britain now has three out of every four available people mobilised on war work—a bigger proportion than any other country. This was revealed in a broadcast to-day by the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Bevin. He said there werc*33,ooo,ooo peoplein Britain between the ages of 14 ano 6.5, and of these 25,500,000 were now in the forces or in full-time work ol national importance. These figures do not include many voluntary workers in other services who are doing essential work. The country’s average working week in the factories is now 56 hours, Mr. Bevin said.
