WAITOTARA NEWS

PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE DANCE There was a very large attendance at a dance held recently at the Waitotara Hall, and arranged by the Patriotic Committee. The guests of honour were Sergeant-Pilot E. Townsend and Private Eric McConachy. Among those present were Private Stewart Forsyth and Private Maurice Wilson, two Waitotara boys who recently returned from service overseas. Before the supper adjournment Mr. H. J. Wilson (chairman), in an appropriate speech, wished the guests the best of luck and called on Mrs. Train to make the presentations—a wristlet Watch to Private McConachy and a leather writing case to Sgt.-Pilot Townsend. Both men thanked the people of the district for their good wishes and useful gifts. Dance music was supplied by Powell’s Orchestra, and songs were given by Private Forsyth and Harry Kimi. Supper was served by the ladies’ committee.
