MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING The weekly shoot on Monday evening of the Marton Miniature Rifle Club was well attended, and several new members took part. Scores:— W. Rankin 138, L. Horgan 132. N. RAINBOW TROUT FRY I LIBERATION IN RANGITIKEI DISTRICT During the past year the Wellington Acclimatisation Society has nad hatched and distributed 1,000,000 brown trout, ova and 150.000 rainbowova. Though the hatchery is nowclosed for six months the position is to be reviewed at. the end of that period. Of the 150,000 rainbow ova, .some 100,000 trout fry were liberated in the Rangitikei River and 40,000 in the Marton lakes. ZONE M PATRIOTIC APPEAL The care of prisoners of war in Germany and Italy is still the responsibility of the International Red Cross, with headquarters at Geneva. Every New Zealander held prisoner obtains every week one parcel ten pounds in weight. The contents are meat, cheese, butter and jam, dried fruit, coffee and milk, chocolate, honey and tea. Cigarettes are sent direct. Donations to the patriotic fund appeal are now being received to provide that the Dominion’s share of parcels be sent regularly.
