AN APPRECIATION In many homes in Wanganui there will be sad hearts at the passing ol Mrs. Edith jane Preston, wile oi Mr. W. D. V. Preston, of Sanay Hook, Upper Aramoho, wnich look place recently. Mrs. Preston was a woman who was loved ana respected lor her line sterling character and warmhearted personality. She never wearied in little acts of kindness and ol love and of doing things lor people. Many people have been the recipients oi gilts, quietly and unostentatiously bestowed, the extent oi which was known only to herself. Through hei death the Women’s Division oi the Farmers’ Union has lost one of iU most loyal and staunch members. Mrs. Preston was deeply interested in the work of the W.D. and was a willing and active helper in the Wanganui branch of whicn she was a foundation member. Later, on the formation of a branch at Makirikiri, she joined as a member. She helped considerably with the Women's Division Book Clun and was also responsible for the torwarding of parcels of books. Her intense sympathy with the evacuees during the Napier earthquake was expressed in many kindly assisting the Wanganui W.D.F.U. effori in rendering help to people at thal time. Mrs. Preston was more than : friend to all who came in contact, with her and she will be very much missed by a large circle of friends.
