SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mrs. Beaumont Bates, Grey Street, has returned to Wanganui after a visit to her daughter at Edgecumbe, Bay of Plenty. Miss Margaret Nelson, who has been the guest of Mrs. G. Clark, Gonville, left yesterday on her return to Christchurch. Mrs. George Mason has returned to Wanganui from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. R. H. Tizard, Upper Aramoho, leaves to-day on a three weeks’ visit to Nelson. Mrs. A. D. Nelson. Christchurch, and formerly of Wanganui, who has been visiting friends at Raetihi, has returned south. Mrs. C. D. Irvine, New Plymouth, was a recent visitor to Wanganui. Mrs. E. J. Lamb, widow of the late Mr. J. C. Lamb, and second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Hanningl.on, pioneer settlers in Wanganui, has died suddenly in Christcnurch. Mrs. Lamb, who was 63 years of age, was born and educated in Wanganui and since married, settled in Wellington and Christchurch. She leaves a family of three, Mr. Reginald Lamb and Miss Phyllis Lamb, Christchurch, and Mr. C. Lamb, who is now serving with New Zealand forces overseas. War Correspondent Married. The wedding of Mr. Robin T. Miller, senior ollicial war correspondent with the N.Z.E.F., and Miss Patricia Hutchison, took place in Auckland on Saturday. The hostesses for the alternoon were Mesdames Becker and Mitchell.
