MINISTER TO MOSCOW
Cl ♦ ______— d ;; MOVE BY AUSTRALIA URGED T London, May 19. Mr. W. M. Hughes, Prime Minister of Australia in the last war, has urged the early appointment of an Australian Minister to Moscow. He said in Australia that Dr. Evatt, who is now in Britain, should consult the Russian Ambassador in London about an exchange of diplomats. An observer in Australia says that the movement for such an exchange has been given a powerful impetus by Mr. Hughes’ appeal. The whole subject has been under discussion since Mr. Curtin’s Government took office, but nothing positive has been achieved. The question now rests mainly with 7 Moscow, since Australia has made her wishes clear.
