MR. FRASER’S GESTURE
V.C.’S PARENTS VISITED Before leaving Wanganui yesterday for Taranaki, the Prime Minister, th. Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, visited Mr. an<7 Mrs. P. 11. Ward, Konini Street, parents of Sergeant-Pilot J. A Ward. VC. While visiting England last year the Prime Minister met Sergeant-Pilot Ward and was impressed by his modesty and personality. Mr. Fraser displayed a keen interest in the many photographs sent to Mr. and Mrs. Ward from many quarters, particular attention being given to a black-and-white drawing done by a Gisborne girl and forwarded by’the artist to Mrs. Ward. “Mr. Ward and I deeply appreciate the Prime Minister’s interest and the kindly thought which prompted his action.” said Mrs. Ward in an interview yesterday afternoon. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Second-Lieutenant J. B. Cotterill, M.P. for Wanganui, and the Mayor, the Hon. W’. J. Rogeis, M.L.C.
