Mr. H. O. Taylor ' -as inducted as a member o. the Wanganui Rotary Club yesterday. Mr. Just; u o.nith is visiting Wanganui for the quarterly ses ion of the Supreme Court which opened yesterday. He returns to Wellington to-day. Rev. Father D. V. Silk, Matamata, celebrated his silver jubilee in holy orders recently. There were 30 priests present, including the Rt. Rev. Bishop Liston, Auckland. Mr. J. D. Tizard, solicitor, of Wanganui, was admitted as a barrister ofi the Supreme Court of New Zealand b> Mr. Justice Smith at the quarterly session of the Supreme Court yesterday. Mr. F. A. King, of the former firm of Mitchell and King, building and engineering contractors in Australia and New Zealand, died in Wellington at the week-end. Pallot, has died at the age of 62 years. Mr. Pallot took an active interest in local body matters, and held an executive position with several trusts and other activities. He was for several years clerk of the Amarunui Drainage Board. He is survived by his second wife and an only daugh- , ter, and three sisters. Mr. D. Ross, Rapanui, who has re 1 signed as chairman of the Wanganui 1 Harbour Board, and also as a representative of the Wanganui County 1 on the board, was referred to by the new chairman, Hon. W. J. Rogers, : M.L.C., at the annual meeting yes- i terday. Mr. Rogers said he admired ■ Mr. Ross for his sincerity and sterling honesty. He hoped Mr. Ross would be spared for many years to ■ enjoy good health. Mr. T. Mitchell . said that over a period of many years Mr. Ross had done noble work for : local bodies. Mr. A. B. Gibson, whose death has occurred at New Plymouth, was a pro- ; minent Red Cross Society worker. He : was largely responsible lor the forma- ' tion ol the New Plymouth branch of : the society in the Great War, being its ; first secretary, and later its president and a life member. Mr. Gibson took an active part in patriotic matters in the Great War. He was a member ; and prominent worker in the Foresters' and Oddfellows’ lodges, and a verv old member of the Masonic order. In his earlier life he took an active part in public affairs, and was also a keen 1 churchman.
