WEALTH SALVAGED
REMOVED BY SUBMARINE FROM CORKEGIDOR London, May 15. The United States Navy Department disclosed to-day that early in February an American submarine entered Manila Bay with a cargo of anti-aircraft shells, which was unloaded at Corregidor. During two nights the submarine loaded 'several tons of gold and securities, representing a large portion of the negotiable wealth of the island fortress, and this was taken to a waiting cruiser out at sea. The gold and securities were taken to the United States for safe keeping, while the island's paper currency was destroyed after a record had been made of it.
