DEPLETION OF PERSONNEL - (P.A.) New Plymouth. May 17. The serious results of the depletion - of the ranks of fire-fighting services ?! were the subject of comment by the ; president of the New Zealand United -I Fire Brigades Association. Mr. H. L. Warner, speaking at Waitara on Sat- ) urday night. I "Before the war," he said." there f were 3000 lire brigade members in ) the Dominion, but. already 633 had joined the Armed Forces. The executive of the association was promised that something would be done to retain trained firemen, but we had continued to lose trained personnel. The position was becoming serious and further representations were made, 'out no reply had so far been received.
