N.Z. FARMERS' UNION BRANCH. The annual general meeting of the Waverley branch of the Farmers' union was held in the secretary’s oilice on Tuesday evening, the president, Mr. J. Cook, being in the chair, before a fair attendance of members. In his annual report the president stated that it had been a difficult year as far as meetings were concerned owing to the benzine restrictions, but the executive had attended the monthly meetings at Wanganui very well ’ indeed. The branch during the year had been able to deal with a number of matters of considerable importance to members, particularly benzine allowances, train services, fat stock disposals, and voluntary labour for haymaking. The balance-sheet, showing a small credit balance to carry forward, was adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all those public-spirited citizens who had come forward and assisted with voluntary labour at haymaking time. Various patriotic funds had benefited substantially from the wages so collected and expressions of appreciation had been received from farmers who had been assisted. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. J. Cook; vice-pre-sidents. Messrs. T. J. Davis and A. L. Elmslie; committee. Mesrs. D. Stewart, E. A. Aiken, G. McGregor, A. J. LarIsen. W. G. Belton, Alex Elmslie. R. W. H. Oliver. C. J. Brown.
