GOOD OUT OF WAR

SACRIFICES FOR WORLD CO-OPERATION Winnipeg, May 13. Sir William Glasgow, in a speech at the annual convocation of the University of Manitoba, said:— “While I do not wish to draw a veil across the incredible suffering anti misery of war, it may yet have some good as wel las evil effects. The Governments of most nations are now being forced to see the viewpoint ol their Allies and to co-operate with them. Individuals are compelled to make more and more sacrifices, anu consequently they are beginning to appreciate for the first time in their lives a great many privileges and luxuries which were formerly taken lor granted. Before the war most people realised that there were fundamental and obvious obstacles to peaceful and harmonious international co-operation, but they were disinclined to make the sacrifice's necessary to remove obstacles. By the time we are in a position to tackle the problems of peacemost of the necessary sacrifices will have been made.”
