“TOO MUCH LOOSE TALK” PACIFIC WAR COUNCIL Washington, May 13. In the Pacific War Council to-day, members unanimously but cautiously regarded the Coral Sea battle as good news. Dr. Soong, as spokesman to the Press after the meeting, said the council had review* d the entire southvest Pacific situation. It was encouraged by the Coral Sea battle, but vas reminded that “the war is not )ver, Japan is not defeated, and h refore the South Pacific is not free rom new danger.” The Canadian representative. Mr. McCarthy, pointed out that the forces | mcaged in the Coral Sea battle were 'datively light, and therefore the re■ult was in no wise conclusive from he victory standpoint, there os in the var as a whole. Dr. Soong said the council studied ar production figures, which were no 1 gratifying. Referring to Burma. ie said that Chinese troops were still n Burma and would prevent Japanese consolidation there. Dr. Soong, who was endorsed by Halifax, said that President ioosevelt had urgently stressed the mportance of using extreme discreion when military operations were ibout to be undertaken. Lord Halifax explained that this reerred particularly to the principals of he Allied Governments, and generally o various officials, as well as to the . speculating or forecasting Allure moves. The council desired to jive a general warning that it was no.-t important that Ihe utmost dis■retion should be used when a miliary oper<"i. rending.
