DEFENCE OF AERODROMES

INSPECTOR APPOINTED (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., March 19. The Minister of Defence announced that the War Cabinet had revised plans for the defence of aerodromes and in this connection il had been decided that Brigadier R. Young, Direc-tor-General ol the Home Guard, be appointed Inspector ol Army and Aerodrome Defences in addition to his present duties, and that he have associated with him two staff officers, one from the Army and one from the Air Force. The Army officer will be Lieut. G. G. Beaven, who has just returned from the Middle East alter having served with the 2nd. N.Z.E.F. and was an officer ol the battalion assigned to the defence ol the Malenie aerodrome in Crete. The Air Force officer will be Wing-Commander M. F. Calder, R.N.Z.A.b.
