Sergeant Alsop i said accused went to a farmer at [ Paeroa on January 1 1 , and borrowed ; c rtain articles of clothing on the i pretence that he had accepted em- ■ ployment on the farm. Next day he | |pft and did not re 4 urn. He .vorked l from January 13 till January 20 on another farm, but cleared out with I property value ! at £1 10s 3d. Later he stole £8 in money and a cycle valued iat £9 together with other property. ■ from a farm at Matamata. After describing various thefts at 1 Rolorua and Tauranga Sergeant : Alson said that or. lhe night of Feb- , ruary 26 accused stayed with a Mr. . E. J. .Jamieson, but left early next I morning, leaving h.s swag in the garage. He returned later for the j swag, but finding nobody at home en- ; tered the house and stole various ■articles of clothing. Most of the I stolen property. with the exception of th. money, had been recovered. ; The magistrate commented that ■ accused had also committed a breach lof his probation order, having been I admitted to probat‘ i, on four charges of theft, at Thames on September 9.
