MARTON Miss E. B. Smith, of Marton, leader of St. John Ambulance' transport, has received advice that her brother. Private Alex D. Smith, who is serving in Egypt, has been awarded the Military Medal. Mr. E. B. Gordon, M.P. for Rangitikei, returned to Marton on Monday from the Waikato, accompanied by Mrs. Gordon, who has for several weeks been under medical treatment at Rotorua. Mr. Gordon left again for Wellington on Tuesday for the present session of Parliament. In the absence of Mr. R. Baker, clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Marton, who has gone into a military camp, Mr. Cobh, of Pahiat.ua, acted in that capacity at, a sitting of the Court on Wednesday.
