MANY DEATHS REPORTED (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) New York, March 17. A devastating series of tornadoes swept through six southern and midwestern States on Monday, killing, it is reported, 120 persons and injuring approximately 700, in addition to destroying thousands of dollars worth' of property. At least 11 were killed, scores were injured and many buildings were destroyed when a tornado swept eastern Illinois. Twelve persons are missing from a passenger boat which struck a railroad bridge pier and sank in the middle of the Ohio River, near’ Wheeling, Virginia.
