ADJOURNED SINE DIE
APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE Five appeals for reservists drawn in overseas ballots were adjourned sine die when heard before the No. 3 Armed Forces Appeal Board at a silting in Wanganui yesterday. Two of the cases were reviews of previous sine (iie adjournments and three were on behalf of railwaymen. The board consisted of Messrs. E. El. Young (Stratford), chairman, T. ■ B. Ewens (Waitara) and A. P. Mel- i ville (Fordell), deputising for Mr. T. , R. Lees (Palmerston North). The Crown representative was Mr. C. 11. C'linkard and the secretary, Mr. N. G. Co Hinge. The Director of National Service appealed for the Railways Department in each of the following cases: Ronald L. D. Jones, litter and turner, Woburn, formerly of Taihape; Alexander Brian Milne, fireman, Taihape, and Kenneth Dale Shaw, fireman. Stratford. A further sine die adjournment was granted in the case of Douglas Campbell Waldie. farmer, for whom Mr. C. F. Treadwell appeared. Waldie appealed on grounds of public intei'.i, co-appellant being his mother, Mis. N. Waldie. Reservist was ordcrod to do Territorial service from March 24 to June 30. .Mrs. Waldie. in evidence, said her -• in was a sergeant and had been in th'’ Te: ritoi’ials for seven years. The por.it ion on the farm had not changed . in. ■ the appeal was previously adjourned sine die. Witness and her husband would carry on with the farm till the end of June, with the idea of releasing the son for further miliß'ry training. Tii • appeal ol Francis C.
