Branches are asked Io retain this clothing for distribution should they he affected by enemy raids, and not to forward the entire collection to the nearest centre or to headquarters. GON MLLE RED CROSS. SUCCESSFUL GARDEN PARTY. The garden party held by the Gonville Reel Cross sub-centre in the 1 spacious grounds of Mrs. N. B. Barkman’s home, King's Avenue, Gonville, on Saturday, was well attended. The green lawns, beds of bright flowers, lovely trees, attractive nooks ana corners, and the fernery amidst native trees, were a great pleasure to the visitors. The Band of the 2nd. A.F.B. (Q.A.M.R.) by permission of Lieut.Colonel Stewart, played weil-selectea music under the baton of Lieut. Thomas. Lawn games and other amusements were well patronised. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn by a bevy of assistants under the convenership of Mesdames H. Strauchon and G. Holly. A stall containing cakes, produce, and miscellaneous articles was in charge of Mesdames Mitchell-Anyon ana vV. Morcan, assisted by Mesdames E. Vincent, C. Rowntree, S. Guthrie and N. Wallace. Mrs. Peter Swan had the help of several girls at the ice-cream and soft drinks stall. The baoy show, convened by Mrs. L. F. Row, was the centre of attraction for a large number ot people. The babies, numbering about 3U, looker bonny and healthy, making the work of judging a difficult one. I’hc judge, Mrs. Garland Jones, thought inc standard of babies was high and ,saia was good to see so many healthy children, which was evidence of the good work 01. the Blanket Society and a great credit to the mothers. The awards were as follows:—Up lo six months, David Winston Hughes I. Seven to .12 months, Janice Beverley Wallace 1. Thirteen to 11 months, Beverley Ann Hawxc. Mrs. J. C. Batt, president, congratulated the mothers and thanked the convener and judge. A copper trail at the entrance to the grounds, in charge of Bernard ■ ’ >ly to the sum raised. Mrs. P. B. Anderson (treasurer), was gatekeeper. Mesdames Wainwright and r isher managed the skittles, and Mrs. Torless the various competitions. The function was convened and supervised by the president an ■ s< ere;ar\, \lesdames J. U. Balt and D. G. Strachan.
