CHIEF OF STAFF IN CHINA Chungking, March 10. It is officially announced that Lieu-tenant-General Stillwell has been appointed Chief of Staff in the China theatre under Marshal Chiang Kaishek. China is sending a military mission to Washington. China and India are exchanging diplomatic representatives of Ministerial rank.
Lieutenant-General Stillwell is a former United States military attache at Peking. He arrived at Chungking on March 4 as President Roosevelt’s special envoy to Marshal Chiang Kai-shek.
