ECONOMIC MISSION

U.S. NEGOTIATIONS WITH SOUTH AFRICA New York, March 4. Officials hope it will be possible to induce South Africa to reduce her gold production and employ the machinery and labour rather for vital war metals, for which Washington is reported to be prepared to pay an amount equivalent to the present purchase of gold.
