TRENTHAM TRACKS

AUTUMN PREPARATIONS (Special.) Wellington, March 5. Conditions at Trent ham this morning were excellent for training operations in preparation for the Wellington autumn meeting, which opens on Saturday. Both the course proper, which is bright and fresh, and with a good sole of grass, and the plough were freely used. On the Plough. Enrich (N. Vaughan) and Siglow (K. Carlyle) were the first to appear, being associated in a seven furlongs I gallop. Siglow broke away a little ahead of his companion, and although Enrich drew up on terms after straightening up, Siglow was finishing | the better. They ran the first three furlongs in 37 3-ssec., and the full journey in lmin. 29sec. His trainer stated this morning that Enrich will probably run in the sprint. Gunyah (Vaughan) finished a neck in front of Madame Rachel (Carlyle) after running five furlongs in lmin. 2sec., the last half-mile in 49sec. Croupisino (Auckram), alone, ran four furlongs in 49 l-ssec. Unfortunately, his pipes are not clear and he was making a pronounced noise. Nevertheless, he retains much of his old brilliance. Dabble (R. Hewitt) beat Autoscore (Gough) and Charming Song (Jennings) very comfortably over six furlongs in lmin. 17 2-ssec. Dabble was actually the last to move, but she ran past the others very easily. Makarora, who would appreciate an easy track, beat the highweight candidate Master Lackham over a mile in lmin. 44sec. The latter does not appear to be as bright as he was. Pay Holl (E. Stewart) was doing it comfortably a neck in front of Kentucky (Vaughan) at the end of six furlongs, run in lmin. 15 l-ssec. Kentucky, however, is not a good track worker. Moutoa Bond ’Garth) shaded Flying Hawk (Vaughan), with Soutane • Gough) further back after covering six furlongs in lmin. 16sec. During the breakfast, interval Autolite (Ahipene) ran half a mile on the same track in 48 3-ssec. and her stablemate. Lotto 'Ahipene), fulfilled a similar task in 49 4-ssec. Autolite |will be ridde n by L. J. Ellis, but no definite arrangement has been made for Lotto. On the Grass. The first to gallop on the course proper was Broadcaster (Vaughan), who had Matapan (J. Garth) as a mate, but the former began the smarter and the Night Raid youngster could make no impression in the run home. Broadcaster ran the halfmile in 49 l-ssec. Olein (Chaffev), who had a marked advantage in the weights, held off a challenge from Daljarrock (A. Sagar) at the close of a seven furlongs task in lmin. 35sec.. Kevin (K. Smith) being some distance back. The Champ (Vaughan) was a neck in front of Duncannon (E. Stewart) at it he end of six furlongs which occupied lmin. 18 3-ssec. The Champ did his work well, but Duncannon also impressed by the manner in which he •was finishin? at the close. Kindergarten Pleases. Kindergarten (P. Burgess), who looks as though he has got through a good deal of work, registered a particularly smart effort by running the last half-mile of a five furlongs task in 48asec. The effort, will bring him into favour for the Challenge Stakes. Lady Neon (K. Smith) jumped away in front of Once Again (Hewitt) and appeared to be doing it very comfortably half-way home, but Once Again finished very solidly to beat her comnanion to the post. The half-mile was run in 51sec. Nizam, who looks a picture, was restricted to an easy task on the course proper, but th? northerner revelled in. his work. Route March Beau Vaals, and Representative, three of the comparatively few visitors as yet to hand, were restricted to pace work on the Plough. They will be galloped tomorrow. An act that was appreciated by trainers was the watering of the roadway leading into the stable and on to the track. As a result there was no dust flying this morning.
