BISHOP’S RESIGNATION

CHURCH CRISIS CAUSED IN . NORWAY London, March 3. ’ Following the resignation of Dr. ’ Berggrctv, Bishop of Oslo, all the other bishops in Norway have resigned, and the deans of all dioceses have rejected a request from the Quisling Government’s Church Department, that they should deputise for the bishops. In individual letters to the Church Minister, each bishop stated: “The spiritual functions entrusted to me at my ordination are still mine. I shall continue to exercise my vocation within the power of one who is not in office.” An overwhelming majority of the clergymen throughout Norway declared that they intend to support the bishops. The Church crisis results from the enrolment of all voting people in the Quisling.’ Youth Movement and also I from the Church Department’s interference in Church arrangements. EDUCATION CRISIS ALSO London. March 4. It is reported from Stockholm .that the resignations of the Norwegian bishops have created the most serious situation*for the quislingite regime so far. An education crisis has also arisen as a result of 9000 of Norway's 10 800 teachers persisting in resigning from the quislingised teachers’ organisation, though the quisiingit ? Education Department has declared that all those who resigned were dismissed. It is cllicially announced that the first batch of 300 teachers has been ordered to do manual labour. Regimentation of children of 10 to 18 years, which precipitated the education crisis, has been introduced, but only 200 so far have been called up for hired duties.
