NATIONAL SAVINGS
RECORD WEEK IN QUOTAS (Special.) Wellington. Dec. 17. Last week 125 towns were successful in attaining their quota of National Savings investments. This is a record. Ten new towns qualified, the most notable addition being Christchurch, which, ailhough within measurable distance of its quota on previous occasions, han not hit! i rto succeeded in reaching its goal. Other provincial 'centres which were successful last week were Wellington, Invercargill, Palmerston North, Hamilton. Wanganui. New Plymouth. Timaru, Gisborne, Nelson, Oamaru, Greymouth, Blenheim and Westport. As additional towns fly their flags interest in the National Savings movement quickens. Towns are now vieing with each other as to how soon in the week they can succeed in attaining their quota. So far New Plymouth. Blenheim. Havelock, Taradale. Walton. Stratford and AwakinoMokau appear to hold the record in attaining their weekly quota on a Monday. Other evidence of success is that the flags at some places have already had to undergo repairs owmg to wear and tear through usage.
