GOOD PROGRES MADE After the meeting of the Taihape Borough Council on Fridaj ev( ning the Mayor. Mr. L. B. de Lautour, asked ah members of the council who hau not enrolled with the Home Guard or any E.P.S. service and who were willing to aid the war work, to send their names in at once. The Works Committee could not function yet through lack of mem'bers, and the Mayor expressed the [hope that this would soon be rectified. He could safely say that arrangements in Taihape had gone along as well as those in many othei towns. Months ago wardens had been appointed to control each section and these formed the executive committee of the E.P.S. All sections were in need of members. The supply and medical sections have advanced considerably and the school is ready to put plans into practice. The E.P.S. is now under the new Reserve Corps Regulations, and when the schemes are complete the whole will be brought before the council. The Mayor and chairmen of various committees were elected a subcommittee, to whom the E PS. executive might appeal, and they were given the power to act. TEAMS <l.l B < APTAIX FAREWELLED On Saturday afternoon a farewell tennis party was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. P. Bryers. There was a good attendance, but rain marred the afternoon's play. Through the unavoidable absence of the president. Mr. de Lautour, Mr. E. Brown made the presentation of a crystal vase on behalf of the club, and expressed regret at the departure of such a keen member wishing him every success in his new position. Mr. Bryers thanked Mr. Brown for his kind remarks and said it had been a pleasure and a privilege to have acted as club captain.
