EMPIRE AIR ROUTE UNBROKEN
NEW PACIFIC ROUTE OPERATING SINCE WAR SPREAD. (Reid 8.20 p.m i London. Dec.'l3. Despite the spread of the war to the Far East Empire air communications between Britain and Australia and New Zealand remain unbroken. The Empire route, in normal times, tan through Burma and Malaga, nut .'.hen an extension ot the war to the Far East appeared likely, steps were taken to ensure that in the event of hostilities the Empire line was unbroken. Surveys were made and refueling and mooring facilities for the big flying boats‘were prepared. When japan entered the war a new route was pul into operation immediately.
